With curves that could only have been carved by the gods themselves, come September 2019, one of the abundant, curvaceously-endowed beauties of this beautiful land is going to be crowned queen in Nigeria’s first-ever curvaceous pageant tagged Miss Curvaceous 2019, amidst great pomp and pageantry.
Besides the immeasurable opportunities that winning would afford the victor, she would also be awarded the star cash prize of 5 Million Naira and a brand new SUV.
The original Brain Child Of Mr. Femi Williams of Diamond Investments; franchise owner and organizer of the pageant which debuted last year 2018 in South Africa; the pageant is a way of celebrating and appreciating another category of Nigeria’s most beautifully and sensationally shaped ladies. Also contrary to the general notion that it is only tall and slim ladies that befit the revered image of Beauty Queens, Miss Curvaceous is set to prove that the true African Queen of this dark-skinned continent must possess curvaceous, tantalizingly attractive curves and a unique personality.
And now, in similar fashion, the debut edition, which quickly warmed its way into the hearts of pageant- lovers and immediately stamped its authority on the consciousness of south Africans, is now about to take Nigeria by storm.
Pageant Registration forms are already being obtained at a very affordably price of 5000 naira via different channels viz by downloading the Pageant Registration form and making an electronic payment, via cash at various form sales outlets, or at the venue of the audition; the last option not being advisable as the massive number of initial entries would be treated on a first come, first served basis, with earlier entries having the advantage of early auditioning on the 11th of July.
Miss Curvaceous 2019 is being supported by media giants, 4K-IV MEDIA, publishers of Metropolix Magazine/online and Soul Magazine, XXL MEDIA MIX, a Professional Branding Solutions outfit, amongst numerous others.
“I STARTED MISS CURVACEOUS TO CHANGE THE NOTION THAT CURVY WOMEN ARE SEX OBJECTS” – Mr. Obafemi Richard Jegede of Curvaceous Lifestyle Nigeria
HOW DO YOU COME ABOUT THIS UNIQUE CONCEPT OF CELEBRATING CURVY WOMEN?
The idea came in because of the beliefs most men have about curvy women. I was tired of our men seeing curvy women as sex object which has increased sexual abuse. Looking at the industry and the platform created thus far. Women in the middle are yet to be given platform, what I mean is that, as a skinny model/woman you have a place in the industry and same goes to BIG women known as plus size but there’s nothing for curvy women like Ini Edo, Mercy Johnson, Anita Joseph to me to mention few. We have millions of women out there who can relate with the above mentioned celebrities.
Dont forget majority of African women are not skinny.
If you see curvaceous women, they always struggle with their jeans size because most jeans out there is not made for them and in most case when they see a jean they like is either it leaves gap around there waist or it won’t go in because of their hips hence we see their G-string showing when they walk . All this put together is what birthed Miss Curvaceous in 2013 in South Africa.
TELL US WHY YOU HAVE THIS STRONG BELIEF IN CURVY LADIES WHEN MANY PEOPLE SEE SKINNY GIRLS AS THE MOST APPROPRIATE FOR MODELLING.
Modeling is not for skinny girls only it is for all. Modeling is for skinny, Curvaceous and plus size. Our target is let our audience knows the different between the skinny , curvy and plus size. Curvaceous is NOT plus size and it can’t be plus size .
HOW DO YOU INTEND TO SELL THE EVENTUAL WINNER TO THE WORLD?
We are currently working with an international designer who will be one of our designers at the grand finale, she’s American based designer and believes in our vision. We are also gona collaborate with different brands who would work with the winner as there brand ambassador. We also going to work with different fashion houses and magazines for more visibility for the winner.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS AWAITING THE WINNER?
Winner wins, $10k, furnished apartment at Lekki, a car and endorsement.
WE HAVE SEEN BEAUTY PAGEANTS STARTED AND LATER FAILED TO SEE THE LIGHT OF THE DAY, HOW DO YOU INTEND TO MAINTAIN THIS UNIQUE CONCEPT?
Because this is not just a pageant, it isfirst pageant in the world to be staged via reality show, through that, talents would be discovered and the contestants would actually discover themselves and their strength through the task and challenge they would face during their stay in the house. Also, this pageant is to empower youths and raise awareness against any form of women abuse .
AS A MAN WHAT WILL YOU SAY TRIGGERS YOUR PASSION FOR THIS PAGEANT?
As a man, I got my passion through my late mother, May her soul continue to rest on peace. I love you Mama. She thought me how to treat and respect women. She made me believe because a woman likes you and open her legs for me does not give me the right to abuse her or treat her like nobody. I fact she made it clear to me that women are to be treated like eggs. Though we have some women who can and will get to your nerves yet a man needs to take caution. One of my quotes says “To build a nation build a woman.” I know many people would disagree with me, but let me make it simple, every leader be it good or bad came through a woman. So when we build a woman she can give birth to that person that would change the world.
WE HAVD HEARD STORIES OF ORGANIZERS SLEEPING WITH CONTESTANTS HOW DO YOU INTEND TO MAKE MISS CURVACEOUS A MODEST PAGEANT?
Like I said, this is a brand that stands against any form of women abuse and we do not believe in nepotism thus, discipline is the order of the day in our pageant and no contestants can say she has experienced such or would experience such. This is a brand that is out there to sensitize men from seeing curvy women as a sex object .
TELL US A BIT ABOUT THE PREVIOUS EDITION IN SOUTH AFRICA.
Miss Curvaceous was birthed in South Africa in 2013.
Our mission is to boost self-esteem and eradicate any form of women abuse and body shaming.
Our Vision is to be the symbol HOPE on everything curvaceous, big and bold in Africa.
My experience thus far is something I can write a book about but since this idea and concept is new. My main challenge is our society and how they have seen curves over the years. Most men sees curves as sex object while thinks nothing good can come out of curves expect sex and butt. I stand to tell the whole Africa that there’s more to curves than butt. A curvy woman can achieve anything and become a role model to her community and the youth. Is high time we see them differently and encourage them to useful instead of perceiving them as sex object of good for nothing but sex.
