All Protocols duly observed.
I welcome each and everyone of us to this epoch making 7th Prestige Excellence Award and Lecture 2023, Held today Sunday 12th November, 2023, At The Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos.
I received the invitation as Guest Speaker from the organizer Mr Wale Abiodun with great honour to speak before this highly respected gathering of likeminds.
Special congratulations to Mr Wale Abiodun and the entire management team of Prestige Magazine and success of today’s occasion,
we have toiled the length and trenches of struggles together for the noble vision, unity and development of Nigeria through his prestigious Prestige Magazine renowned for truth and advancement of our democracy.
Congratulations to our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and afterwards, elections are over now the stage is set as we now have no holds barred freedom to witness good governance as promised by the President Tinubu led administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the greatest benefits of the greatest numbers.
Without much Ado, Nigeria has passed through furnace of tribulations and unabatedly we have a history of opaque and cheqaured political history of undemocratic systems, corruption, bad governance and lack of peaceful harmonious relationships amongst the over 200 million Nigerians , hence this conversation at this all important platform: 7th Prestige Excellence Award and Lecture PEAL.
Firstly, let me reassure you that a new Nigeria is here, all we need to collectively achieve this vision predicated upon stronger bond of synergy, unity of purpose to better positioned ourselves as the real checkmate and be the real opposition voice of the voiceless, and poor of the poorest citizens.
As citizens we are settling the stage for real constitutional democracy, restructured government and advanced economy is now, precipitating my advise to the Executives on the need to set new standards for working with the 10th Legislative Assembly to fight for a good economy, fight against insurgency and insecurity, Corruption, human rights infringements and abuse of rule of law in all its ramifications.
Very urgent to make bold to demand the reaffirmation of President Tinubu’s electoral promised christened renewed hope.
The new agenda for renewed hope represent a strong call on the government for more works on its part to fashion new processes for good governance which will promote equity fairness and justice in the land.
The People’s expectations from the affirmed promise of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which are resident on the trust and confidence on the new government hence it must create an atmosphere of good living, wellness and Unity among the people in actualisation of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended especially in sections 14(2b), wherein it states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.
President Tinubu should commence working assiduously to renew Citizens hope firmly in the context of his oath of allegiance while all motions and bills from the National Assembly should be adhered to in the interest of the sovereignty, integrity, solidarity, well being, and prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
President Tinubu must as a matter of urgency, commence his mandate delivery with the urgent introduction of how the revenue allocation formulae will be reviewed to reduce the wide gap of monthly allocations between the three arms of government given that the amount accruing to the Federal Government is presently on the high side, a big factor that has created economic strangulation in the states. And it is important to introduce the Traditional Rulers as fourth tiers and INEC as fourth arm of government.
The President should assist his government through bringing his post election victory speech on May 25, 2023 into fruition, extending the hand of friendship to some of those who contested election with him, particularly picking the best cabinet partners from Labour, Civil Society and the major opposition parties whom he referred to as his Compatriots so as to form an all inclusive cabinet that can drive his new project models.
The President is expected to direct his attention on new Ministers to ensure that they focus on the specific areas of the set mantra of Road/Rail infrastructure, Education, Agriculture, Poverty Eradication, Inclusion of Youths/Women, while fighting against Corruption and Insecurity.
President’s victory, reaffirmed by the Supreme Court, 26th October 2023 judgements must be used to serve the people better, reiterating that the only way to satisfy the aspiration of the people is to demonstrate renewed capacity for hope and assured performance.
