The Ogun State Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu has charged the newly sworn-in President and members of the Customary Court of Appeal and High Court Judges in the state to strictly adhere to the administration of justice.
Justice Dipeolu made this charge at the formal introduction ceremony of the Judges to the judiciary, members of the Bar and the general public, held at Judiciary Complex, Kobape Road, Abeokuta, the state capital.
She said that their appointment was in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that the appointment of the President and Honorable Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal was significant, as they are the first ever to be sworn into the newly established Customary Court of Appeal since the creation of the state.
“Your appointment have become a pacesetter, as it now forms part of the pacesetting history of the state, and Nigeria in general. I count it a rare privilege and grace to be a part of this historic event, and I am confident that you all feel the same way too”, Justice Dipeolu said
She added that the new appointees were assuming office at a time when there are high expectations from the public, especially for a truly independent judiciary, noting that it would fulfils its role as the last hope, of the common man in the country.
Also, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Akingbolahan Adeniran said that the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun would ensure that justice was done to the people of state through proper administration of justice.
He said that Customary Court of Appeal was inaugurated and constituted after nine years of its establishment in the state, noting that deepen of efficacy of the administration of justice would be their watchword through the newly constituted Customary Court of Appeal President and its members.
“In a bid to make the state judiciary a first among its peers in the country, the present administration will ensure it is accorded a rightful place in the administration of the justice and will ensure that courts and judges are adequately equipped for enormous tasks ahead”, Adeniran said
Representing the body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Mr. Afolabi Fashanu (SAN), noted that all the jurists being sworn-in deserved an elevation, as they have work assiduously and contributed immensely to the administration of justice in the state.
He then admonished them to avoid judicial temperament, corrupt practices, and be impartial in order not to cause damage to administration of justice in the state and Nigeria at large.
