Following the adoption of Segun Adewale “Aeroland” by Action Democratic Party (ADP) to contest Ekiti State 2018 governorship election on its platform, Lagos State branch of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has started the moves to place Adewale on indefinite suspension for anti-party activities, Prestige international magazine investigation reveals.
It was gathered that the leadership of PDP in Lagos State is not happy with Segun Aeroland for dumping PDP and working against the party in Ekiti State towards the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
It would be recalled that Segun Adewale initially identified with PDP in Ekiti State to preach support for his guber ambition but later switched over to ADP to actualise his Ekiti dream.
The astute politician is a native of Ipoti EKiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State and the Lagos West Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 senatorial election.
It would be recalled that in April 2017 when Segun Adewale visited Ekiti State PDP secretariat to announce his ambition to run for governorship on the platform of PDP, the State Chairman of PDP, Chief Williams Ajayi stated that the secretariat has not endorsed any aspirant but promised a plain level ground for all. Chief Williams noted that Otunba Segun Adewale is the first aspirant to officially show his interest to contest the next governorship election under the party umbrella.
Meanwhile, The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has since adopted an Ipoti-born businessman, Otunba Segun Adewale (Aeroland), as its governorship candidate for this year’s election in Ekiti State.
The party urged the electorate to liberate themselves from the shackles of poverty by supporting it in the July 14 poll.
ADP’s adoption of Adewale was reportedly affirmed in an address by the State Chairman, Kunle Abegunde, during a visit by the state executive council and members of the party to Adewale’s campaign office in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
At the event, which was attended by top officials of the party, Abegunde said ADP settled for the entrepreneur and philanthropist after considering his antecedent.
The chairman said the party was convinced of his capability to show good leadership in the state.
He said the lapses of the Ayodele Fayose administration were many, adding that the people must reject the government’s attempt to elongate the people’s suffering through its ‘Continuity Agenda’.
Abegunle said: “The current leadership of the PDP in Ekiti cannot appreciate the qualities in this illustrious son due to their dictatorial tendencies.”
