The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has appealed for the understanding and patience of her Customers in Ibadan, Ijebu-ode, Sagamu, Iseyin, Ejigbo and part of Ede who are currently experiencing minimal supply of power
The Company said the poor supply is the aftermath of the TCN-Ayede Sub-station fire incidence that happened on the 5th of February 2020.The fire destroyed the TCN 150 MVA,330/132/33 kV power transformer that cannot be easily replaced.
According to IBEDC’s Acting Chief Technical Officer, Engr. Felix Abiodun,’’ shortly after the bulk restoration of supply, one of the remaining three transformers (3x150MVA), gave a caution sign, which led to its shut down and eventual oil filtration. Few days later, another transformer began tripping spuriously, the cause of this is traced to the effect of the fire and associated heat on the control cables linking the transformers. “
He said the only way TCN could supply power to IBEDC’s numerous customers, therefore, is through load shedding and rationing of power supply for now.
The Company assures its esteemed Customers that TCN and IBEDC Engineers are working round the clock to ensure better supply of power in the shortest possible time.
