Glo gives customers free 5G data on e-SIM | Prestige News

More Nigerians now have the opportunity to go “SIM-less” as Globacom has announced the introduction of its e-SIM. Every new e-SIM activated attracts a generous bonus of 5GB data when the customer buys a data plan of N1,500 or more.
A statement from Globacom described the e-SIM as a software-based digital chip built directly into smartphones or wearable devices, thus eliminating the need for a physical SIM card for customers, thus enabling customers with no space for physical SIMs on their phone to also enjoy the benefits of Glo products and services seamlessly.
Subscribers can seamlessly switch between numbers without a physical SIM while e-SIM is convenient for upwardly mobile people who travel frequently.
Globacom reckoned another advantage of e-SIM as being the security it has as opposed to physical SIM. The e-SIM is harder to remove from devices. The e-SIM is equally eco-friendly and reduces plastic waste.
It said the e-SIM will address the needs of high-net-worth individuals and enterprise customers, as it also emphasized its commitment to providing seamless and future-ready services to customers.
According to Globacom, new and existing customers can enjoy this “SIM-less” freedom with the Glo e-SIM, as an additional SIM.
A customer seeking to activate the e-SIM can check the compatibility of the mobile handset by dialling *#06# on his or her phone. If an EID number reflects on the mobile screen, the device is e-SIM compatible. The customer can then proceed to the nearest Gloworld shop or Glo Dealer outlet to activate an e-SIM. The process takes only a few minutes after which they can begin to enjoy the use of the e-SIM.
