The Erelu of Ikeja and Ogudu, Alhaja Mudirakat Adele who is equally a staunch member of All Progressives Congress (APC) is begging the executive governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to install new Olu of Ikeja. Erelu, who recently bagged Amazon of the year award at 12th edition of Ikeja City award, is of the view that it is not in the best interest of Ikeja land to be without Oba who is expected to preside over the affair of the kingdom.
It would be recalled that Ikeja, the capital city of Lagos State is without a traditional ruler (Oba) since the demise of the late Olu of Ikeja six years ago. It is not only Erelu of Ikeja/Ogudu that is calling on Governor Ambode to install new Oba for Ikeja. Another notable personality that is begging Ambode on the same issue is Chief Thomas Jaji, he is also of the opinion that it is high time that Governor Ambode gives Ikeja an Oba.
Findings revealed that the entire Bales in the Kingdom and neighborhood are in support of this call. The Bales of Allen, Ojodu, Akiode, Ikeja and Ojodu are speaking in one voice that it is high time that the Governor of Lagos state give Ikeja land an Oba.
