An internationally certified institute for non-profit leaders and philanthropic organisations is set to commence programme of activities in Nigeria on Monday July 4, 2022.
Africa Institute for Charity (AIC) is unarguably the continent’s premier incorporated institution for nonprofit leadership and management, dedicated to capacity-building, training, research and development of sustainable approaches aimed at equipping nonprofit executives and stakeholders for effective communication, proper accountability and maximum impact.
In a statement signed by the co-founder, John Thompson, stated that the Institute’s vision is to see ‘an Africa united in Charity’.
He said the Federal Ministries of Education and Justice as well as Corporate Affairs Commission have licensed the Africa Institute for Charity, among other things to:
Engage in researching, educating and training of practitioners and executives of Nonprofit organisations.
To provide genuine platform for promoting professional standards in Nonprofits practice.
To engage in conducting and analyzing data and surveys in the field of Nonprofit sector, etc.
Thompson, a renowned Governing board member of NANOE, disclosed that the Institute will be officially launched on September 5 to commemorate the United Nations International Day for Charity.
In the spirit of World Charity Day Celebration, established by UN in 2012 to honour late Mother Theresa, “the launch of the institute on that date was strategically designed to create broader participation and robust collaboration inline with United Nations objectives of setting aside September 5 every year as World Charity Day”.
He further stated that the Institute will unveil platforms for Charitable opportunities and participation by individuals, NGOs, corporate organizations, development partners and stakeholders.
Ultimately, it shall ‘remind us that simple acts of Charity can alleviate the worst effects of humanitarian crises and create more inclusive and resilient societies’.
Thompson, listed what he called ‘tripod pillar of Africa Institute for Charity’ as: (a) Robust Strategy; which he said is ‘to effectively communicate the vision, mission and master plan of the institute with user-friendly buttons for impact optimization, enhanced visibility and effective participation.
(b) Result Oriented Programmes; which translates to ‘continuous experiential capacity building development with measurable result oriented programmes and improved assessment analysis.
(c) Enhanced Relationship; means, ‘the institute must constantly engage innovative technology to enhance corporate and individual relationship with all stakeholders’.
The institute is affiliated to National Development Institute (NDI), United States and a prestigious holder of Best Practice Charity Medallion, as the continental certified champion member of National Association of Nonprofit Organisations and Executives (NANOE), Washington DC, U.S.A.
With a clear mission “To develop and certify leaders of public trust in philanthropic management and charitable services for maximum impact in our communities”, the co-founder said Africa Institute for Charity (AIC) was “established with the commitment to refine, improve, strengthen and promote governing guidelines of Nonprofit capacity building in Nigeria and Africa generally.
