A mild drama took the centre stage at the lower chamber of the National Assembly today as Hon. Jagaba Adams Jagaba, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from Kaduna State announced himself as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member.
At the plenary, Hon. Jagaba, while introducing himself when he was about to make contribution on the floor of the House said, “I am Hon. Jagaba Adams Jagaba and I am of the PDP”.
In a swift reaction, the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara said: “No, no, Jagaba. You can’t do this to me”.
This, however, elicited spontaneous reactions from all the lawmakers. While the PDP members chant their party name in jubilation, a rancorous “no, no, no” rented the air from the APC members.
This lasted for some minutes before normalcy returned to the chamber, and Dogara said “The truth is that I am not aware and the House is not aware. As a ranking member, you know what to do. So, as far as we are concerned, you’re still a member of APC”.
